A DUI arrest can be a traumatic experience. Some people may experience:

MelissaHartford ky, Kentucky state policeI was pulled over on my way to work and was speeding a little cause I got a new car and didn’t realize how fast I was going. Plus I was running late for work. I was not smoking or anything and hadn’t smoked previously. But I was still charged with a DUI.
JadeHumboldt neI got pulled over because of my exhaust the officer said he smelled alcohol so asked if I would do a test so i did, I blew .17, he then took me to the police station and I blew .11
MichaelIndianapolisThis was during my separation from my wife last summer (in 2022). I blew a tire by hitting a corner/cur, and my car (a Cadillac) went into accident mode so the steering wheel locked up and airbags deployed. I couldn’t move the car out of traffic. While I was calling for help, the police showed up. They saw empty cans of seltzers, breathalyzed me on 7/5/22, and I was taken to jail for a few nights. My nephew was driving by and insisted on helping (getting the car towed at least) but the officers refused to let me release the vehicle to him. I don’t have the money to get the vehicle out of wherever they towed it to. Upon release, I was put on a breathalyzer device for 3 months. I was alone, no car, ran out of food in the place I lived, my paycheck stretched me only so far, and food stamps (SNAP) helped me for 1 week of food per month.
So I decided to give up- but it didn’t work..I was taken to a local hospital after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. I’ve never been in such a dark and lonely place in my life.
I decided to go to an inpatient intensive rehabilitation for 30 days for alcohol and depression
(Not court ordered). After rehab, I went to an Intensive outpatient therapy(IOP) for 30 days where I also worked full time at night and attended IOP Monday-Friday 8 hrs / day. After completing IOP, I transitioned to a sober living for another 30 days.
During those 90 days, I was able to reconcile with my wife who had moved to Louisiana for her career. I moved in with her, found a job down there, have been sober since and have been working as a manager at Walmart in Louisiana since January 2023.
I have been offered a plea deal according to my most recent (3rd) public defender. I want to know if there is anyway I can get these charges reduced to reckless driving. I was a retail district manager(DM) and am currently applying for other DM opportunities. This requires clean driving records. I would not want this one mistake to hinder my future my career prospects and for that to work against me when I will be an upstanding tax paying citizen. Maybe it was supposed to happen this way because if I kept drinking and driving, I could’ve killed myself and/or others. Thank GOD I didn’t.
OranNewton County, Georgia state trooperGeorgia state trooper illegitimately charge me with a DUI after not being sure there were two other vehicles flew pass me I didn’t think anything about it and made my regular U-turn doing the proper speed and the trooper was not on the state road 20 . He was on the off-road sitting in a car parking lot, trying to clock vehicles in between a Street to the next street but he still pull me over after I went around the ramp. and soon as he got to the window, he automatically told me I smell like alcohol and I’m going to jail. No Miranda rights no chance to take a test or field sobriety. He just took me to jail and told my wife that I would need a lawyer and I wasn’t drunk at all maybe a little arrogant but not drunk I thought this was a free country. Just be careful. In the area of Oxford in Newton County on State Road 20 the trooper name was Mr. James please be careful he will put charges on you. That’s not even true. I thought they was here to serve and protect not hurt and turn innocent people to criminals in the public eye. I need help please If anybody in this world can you help me please just give me a call at 321-512-2148 please I’m a Real estate engineer fighting for my life please can somebody help me.
AlazaeAnchorage Alaska MunicipalityI was pulled over in Anchorage, Ak on 6/2/23 for "Operating under the influence." Long story short, this is my first offense and I blew a .081 and I am trying to find the right lawyer for me. He said I was pulled over because my tags were expired (which I made sure to update the same day) and he said because I was driving an 80 on a 50, (I was pulled over on an exit). I did the field sobriety test and I believe I did good (He didn’t say if i passed or not after each test) after the last test he asked me again how many total drinks I had and I told him what I said in my car. (I said 2 and a half because I shared the last drink with my friend." I would like to see the dash-cam footage. He said "no, you said 3 in the car" and arrested me and took me to jail. After he read the papers to me, I was released the same night. I took an uber. Thank you for your time, I hope to hear back very soon. Id share more details as this is not everything that was said/asked.

EdCallahan, FloridaI normally don't drink, but on Sunday had 2 or 3 beers while working on my truck. That evening I went in, took my medicine (Ambien, Hydrocodone, other prescriptions) and told my wife I'm going to bed. She needed cigarettes so I thought I had time to run to the market and get her some before my sleeping pills took effect… I was wrong. Fell asleep as I pulled into the parking lot and bumped a car. I blowed a 1.1 and spent the night in jail.

Casey DixonBristow City Police DepartmentI was arrested for having my dab pen inside my purse. It was not out, I was not smoking it. I passed every field sobriety test that all 3 officers watched as they had me in the street stopping traffic. And I have never been arrested for anything before. This will ruin the future that I have planned being a single mother of 3 children. I do not have any of the funds that it would require to obtain an attorney for myself in this case. But I am willing to do anything to make sure that this gets dismissed.

  1. I had hit my car twice around 6-7, and got pulled over around 9-10. I was pulled over for a valid reason. After that getting my license and registration, they said that they were suspicious that I was under drug usage (nervous, droopy eyes), so they told me to get out and do some “standard tests” to make up their minds.

After that I was arrested for DUI and taken to the station, where I was further questioned, with my consent, and further examined until he further concluded that I was too impaired to continue (at this point around 5 hours after consumption) and I was taken to Lancaster hospital where I was to take a blood test. After I was returned to my house.

  2. Drove homeward from a concert on my birthday. 10 minutes into my 35 minute drive home, I was pulled over when the officer saw me deviate out of my lane. I only deviated because I was reaching for gps that fell on passenger foot area. I didn’t know how to get home otherwise!

It was in the boonies in middle of nowhere, no cars on road except me. I didn’t know to refuse the roadside field sobriety tests so I tried to complete those. Balance is already bad from sciatica nerve damage and numbness in foot from S4, L2 discectomy. Didn’t do well.

Then I blew into a breathalyzer. I don’t know what I blew since the cop didn’t say. Then I was placed under arrest and placed in back of cop car. Then cop asked if I can take a blood sample. I said not right now since I’m in hand cuffs and in back of your squad. Was never asked again after that or advised about saying not right now meant under the law or administered any further testing at the station.

Was not read my miranda rights at any time. The cop kept asking me to just admit I was drinking but I stood my ground and said I am not answering any further questions without an attorney. That really made cop mad. I called a DUI attorney my friend knows who is going to take my case for $2,500 up front. Might be another $2,000 in fees if he needs to work beyond the normal scope.

It was muddy and unlevel ground so I am thinking the FST will be tossed. Also charged with open intoxicants (empty wine bottle under back seat which I didn’t even know was there but probably from the last landfill trip) and refused blood sample, which is automatic/immediate suspension.

I regret taking the FST and roadside breathalyzer. Regret refusing a blood sample because of the severe consequences. I never drink and drive since I live next to my main pub but I’m in a lot of trouble. I’ll need prayers for a reduction or dismissal as my job is on the line. Very pricey situation. I really only have about $5,000 savings so I don’t know what I’m going to do.

NEVER complete roadside FST. And keep your mouth shut except to state your name and address.

  3. I was just recently pulled over for a license plate missing on the front. I was told to perform field sobriety, whilst i was completely sober, ended up failing those tests, something like 1/3 of all people fail those tests even while sober. I believe the Only reason they arrested me was because i said no to searching my car and they needed a reason to search it, they ended up finding a felony amount of drugs. Charged with DUI while completely sober, hadn’t touched anything intoxicating in days
